Thenew AI doesn't cheat for resources, the old one did. The new Ai is still much stronger even without cheating however. Which is quite amazing considering how challanging it is on hardest. AOE2 actually has imo the best non cheating AI I've ever played in a strategy game. In most games defeating AI is trivial unless it cheats. Not so in AOE2 HD.
